Asian GOP Pittsburgh Committee
We, the Asian GOP Pittsburgh committee, hereby support PA representative Dr. Rick Saccone as PA GOP candidate for US Senate.
Dr. Saccone is a well qualified patriotic politician that our country needs in the US Senate. He has a long history of military and civilian service for our country. He spent most of his military career in Asian and Mid-East countries and received multiple awards from US and Korean governments, including two Meritorious Service Medals. After retiring from the Air Force, Dr. Saccone has worked in a wide range of positions, from multiple leadership positions in American and Korean international business, working in counterintelligence, as a diplomat in North Korea to help defuse the nuclear crisis (at that time, he was the only American living in North Korean for one year), teaching as an international affairs professor, to a legislator in PA. He has travelled to 75 countries to serve ours and authored nine (9) books on foreign affairs. All these experiences provide Dr. Saccone with a deep understanding of the world and a unique vision in seeking the solutions for problems that our world is facing.
Dr. Saccone is a seasoned legislator known to safeguard conservative values and the interest of his constituents (has been elected 4 terms as PA representative). He has authored more than 20 laws and worked with others to pass more than 40 laws. All politicians can talk, but Dr. Saccone walked the walk!
Besides his extensive experience in Asia, Dr. Saccone has a special relationship with Asian people. His wife of 38 years is Korean. He has much more understanding of Asian communities and Asian cultures than many other candidates in the race. His values, in many ways, resonate well with our Asian American values. Values that include hard work, self-reliance, love of family, emphasizing the importance of education, equal opportunity, and law abidance.
As a small percentage (5%) of American population, Asian Americans have been one of the hardest working groups to contribute significantly to our nation, but we also would like to have the equal opportunity the same way as everyone else get in our nation. Therefore, it causes much anxiety and confusion in Asian communities when some politicians in certain states began using identity politics to further divide Asian Americans into many tiny ethnic groups so they can play the game of picking winners or losers. Dr. Saccone understands the issues important to Asian Americans. He expressed his support for policies or laws that can unite people, not divide people; his support for policies that promote merits, not the identity favoritism in society.
Based on all the reasons described above, the Asian GOP at Pittsburgh Committee endorses Dr. Rick Saccone as PA GOP candidate for US Senate.
