Candidate Rick Saccone Hosts Veterans Roundtable Discussion
Proven leader, dedicated public servant, and military veteran running for PA’s 18th Congressional District

CANONSBURG, Pa. – Candidate Rick Saccone hosted a Veterans Roundtable Discussion yesterday in Canonsburg, PA with fellow veteran and Congressman Doug Collins (R-GA). Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District has a large veteran population, and yesterday’s event provided a unique opportunity for Rick Saccone to receive feedback from them. The discussion included a focus on reforms for the Department of Veterans Affairs and other measures to benefit armed service members and their loved ones.

“Yesterday’s Veterans Roundtable Discussion provided yet another opportunity to hear from those that have fought for our country on the front lines,” said Rick Saccone. “It is an honor to be able to serve those that have served our country honorably in the Armed Forces. As a member of the Pennsylvania House, I have fought passionately to provide quality care and to show proper appreciation for our military, veterans, and their families, and in Congress, I pledge to continue that fight.”

During Saccone’s tenure in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, he has championed a series of important legislation for the veterans community, including the “Stolen Valor Act,” that criminalizes the act of forging military service (or valor) in order to obtain benefits. Rick has also provided leadership and direction as a member of the Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committee.

Saccone served the United States as a counter-intelligence officer for the U.S. Air Force, defending the country against espionage. During the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games, Rick also served on the counter-terror task forces in Los Angeles, California and Seoul, South Korea. Rick served as a senior-counter intelligence agent in Iraq, identifying, capturing, and interrogating insurgents.
