Southwestern Pennsylvania deserves a congressman with the experience to end the opioid crisis

CANONSBURG, Pa. – The opioid epidemic has devastated Southwestern Pennsylvania. These drugs have killed thousands of our people and infected every part of our communities with the greater Pittsburgh area being one of the hardest-hit areas in the country by this plague.

Rick Saccone has a strong record of fighting the opioid epidemic. In the State House, Saccone helped enact legislation aimed at preventing drug addiction and promoting access to health care treatment. His efforts to prevent addiction have already produced tangible results. Since the legislation passed, there has been a twelve percent drop in opioid prescriptions in the state of Pennsylvania.

“I’ve traveled across the state to attend hearings for the House Judiciary and House Policy committees, and engage with Pennsylvanians affected by this plague. In Congress, I will ensure our local leaders and residents are being heard.” said Rick Saccone. “We’re beginning to make progress, but there is much more work to be done at both the state and federal level. As a leader on the issue in Harrisburg, I will bring that experience to Congress and continue fighting tirelessly for the people of Southwestern Pennsylvania.”
